Google's Goofs:  More wrong maps of the Delta

Google has lots of great information online, but when it comes to the Delta, Google ignores requests for corrections,
and even in 2013 there are lots of (what appear to be intentional) mistakes regarding the location of Delta islands,
waterways and roads.  Below are Google and other online maps with a focus on the North Delta.  Mistakes have
been made in other areas of the Delta, but there seems to be a pattern with the Google failure to correct Delta
locations in the North Delta.  When notified to correct wrong data, viewers have been told other companies
provide the labeling, or other people have provided conflicting information.  In the case of Ryer Island, even
the Solano County survey office made a request to Google to correct map names.  5 years later, partial
correction was made!  Since Google is the main online resource for mapping, perhaps its is not a surprise
that DWR, UC Davis professor, USBR, URS and others have published wrong Delta maps based on the
Google version of the Delta.

There are 2 Ryer Islands in Solano County-
one in the Suisun Marsh area, and the other
by Rio Vista.  Only the larger Ryer Island by
Rio Vista has residents, marinas, RV park,
gas dock, store, etc.  So why does Google
keep referring to the inaccessible "Ryer"
in the Suisun Marsh area, even in 2013?

If Google does recognize the other Ryer
Island, often we find it is labeled wrong,
as shown above.  And it keeps changing!

Above is a section of the Hal Schell map
of the Delta for reference of the
correct island and waterway names!
