TRANSPORTATION PLANNING FOR THE
DELTA AND CALIFORNIA
CalTrans has been making plans for major changes to Delta travel.
This page shows maps from the different plans, and also links to some
of the planning documents. In 2012 we are seeing the beginnings of
the planned construction to raise a portion of Highway 12 between
Rio Vista and Tower Park, and there's also some construction along
SR 4 which appears to be the preliminary steps to raise that route.
DRMS Phase II Delta transportaion plans may be something you'd want
DRMS Phase 2 Section 11 (ca website) or go to
DRMS_Phase2_Report_Section11.pdf Even though the state says it
doesn't have the money, the Federal Stimulus funds come at a very
convenient time. Isn't it odd how the plans for major road work
were started in 2003-2005, but the big market downturn started in 2007
to that the "stimulus" spending would then make sense?
The push to get people to live in cities is supposed to be about using
less gas and less vehicles, but it also seems to be related to the
impending decline of Norther California's aquifers and private wells if
so much water is diverted from the
Sacramento River that
NorCal aquifers will no
longer receive annual "recharge" from winter Sierra storm runoff.
